Fuji Gran Fondo 2.1 Disc Road Bike - 2016
Gran Fondos, a road race tradition imported from Europe, are long timed rides that are all the rage in the cycling world
Whether they're for charity or a chance to test your mettle on a century ride, there's something special about a riding fondo that can't be beat
There's something special about the Fuji Gran Fondo 2.1 Disc that can't be beat either
The Gran Fondo frame is made from Fuji's proprietary C5 high modulus carbon blend
The new Gran Fondo Disc frames also feature Fuji's revolutionary VRTec frame design
In a nutshell, VRTec inserts a natural vibration dampening material into the carbon layup in key areas to improve rider comfort without impacting performance
The C5 frame is further refined with a Praxis conversion bottom bracket, which results in a large platform for power transfer and gives a stiffer, less flexy ride
You'll appreciate that as you pile on the miles
What really makes this bike stand out is the Shimano Ultegra 6800 11-speed drive train
The all-new 11-speed Ultegra front derailleur features a long lever arm and a rear derailleur that has been reengineered for cleaner shifting
Best of all, the Gran Fondo 2.1 Disc features Shimano R-805 Hydraulic disc brakes
Oval Concepts 327 alloy clincher wheels give you a speed advantage without making you vulnerable to cross winds or sacrificing comfort
They' re outfitted with Vittoria Zaffiro Pro tires in a wider 25c profile.

Fuji Norcom Straight 2.3 Triathlon Road Bike - 2017
When time is your enemy, you need a bike on your side that can squeeze every ounce of efficiency out of your ride
The 2017 Fuji Norcom Straight 2.3 time trial/triathlon bike is a time machine built to shave tenths of seconds, if not minutes, off of every ride
As is common practice at Fuji, designers left no avenue of development unexplored, and worked hand in hand with Olympic triathlete Matty Reed and pro triathlon champions Sarah Haskins and Cameron Dye to address issues from a pro rider's perspective, and then translate these inputs into arguably one of the fastest bikes on Earth
The Norcom Straight's C5 carbon frame and FC-330 carbon fork technology represent an amazing jump in stiffness, steering response, and of course, aerodynamics
Norcom was engineered largely in the legendary A2 Wind Tunnel facility in North Carolina, where designers were able to significantly reduce the drag on every yaw angle on the frame and fork, and incorporate the most developed shaping techniques in the industry
The result is an ultra-light, ultra-stiff high modulus carbon frame with vertical dropouts
Norcom Straight's designers placed the rear brake cavity directly behind the bottom bracket (as opposed to being on the seat tube in previous bikes) , and opted to go with a BB86 bottom bracket which moves the bearings outward on the crank axle, dramatically improving the stiffness of both the frame -- through a greater cross-sectional width at the BB shell -- and the crank itself
The result was a surprising 26% increase in stiffness in the BB area, which to a triathlon or time trial rider equals faster times
The Norcom 2.3 features a Shimano 105 11-speed drivetrain and an Oval Concepts mid-compact 52/36 crankset
You'll achieve the perfect cadence and power no matter the grade or heart rate
Oval Concepts 327 wheels and Vittoria Zaffiro Pro Slick tires deliver dependable performance and aerodynamics
TRP aero TTV brakes deliver modulation response directly from your fingertips to the wheels to eliminate over-braking while also providing full stopping power.

Eddy Merckx Sanremo76 Ultegra Di2 Road Bike - 2016

Eddy Merckx Sanremo76 Ultegra Di2 Road Bike - 2016
Eddy Merckx Sanremo76 Ultegra Di2 Road Bike - 2016
Milan-San Remo is known as LA Primavera
It's one of the longest one day races on the calendar and covers some punchy and steep climbs
but it also has a reputation as being the ultimate Sprinter's Classic
Eddy Merckx raced San Remo ten times, and won it seven of them--the last in 1976
To commemorate that momentous record, Eddy Merckx Bicycles introduced the Sanremo76--a true all around sprinters bike
So what does an all-around sprinter's bike mean? It means that it has to be aerodynamic, which the Sanremo76 definitely has covered, thanks to its integrated aero seatpost and fork, and blunted kam tail tube shape designs that cheat the wind
It also has to be stiff, which the Sanremo76 definitely is, with the massively oversized headtube, chunky BB86 bottom bracket shell, and Powerbox asymmetric chainstays--which all combine to transmit every last watt of power into forward motion
But thanks to the demands of a race like San Remo, the bike also has to be comfortable
Afterall, what good does a super-sprint bike do if you're too fatigued to sprint at the end? The Sanremo76 isn't the most compliant bike out there, but it the thinned out seatstays and large tire clearance do more than enough to mute out road feedback and improve the ride quality
But of course, as any experienced rider knows, a great frameset is nothing without excellent components
Fortunately, the Sanremo76 serves up a full Shimano Ultegra 6870 Di2 groupst
With Di2, Changing gears has never been so easy, effortless and fast
Ultegra Di2 features an automatic trimming front derailleur, so you never have to hear the sound of chain rub again
The shifters act with digital push button shifting and are ergonomically shaped for optimal comfort and control
The lever reach adjust fits all hand sizes
The Di2 rear derailleur is pre-programmed allowing you to shift gear quickly and accurately in all conditions
The battery, at the heart of the drivetrain, uses lithium ion technology and guarantees a range of 1,250 miles, or almost half the length of the Tour de France, before it needs to be recharged, which only takes just 90 minutes
And just in case you needed any more reminding that this is a sprint bike, the Sanremo76 is equipped with a Deda 35 Trentacinque cockpit and Fulcrum Racing Quattro wheels
The Deda 35 cockpit uses an oversized 35mm handlebar and stem, instead of the usual 31.8mm found on most bikes
This adds an impressive amount of stiffness to the bike, so there won't be a bit of front end flex during all out efforts
The Racing Quattro wheels are an excellent all-around training wheel, with a moderately deep profile so getting up to speed won't be a problem...but neither will the occasional pothole.

Bianchi Oltre XR.2 Road Bike Frameset - 2016 Celeste, 59cm

Bianchi Oltre XR.2 Road Bike Frameset - 2016 Celeste, 59cm
True to its name, the Bianchi Oltre XR
2 Road Bike Frameset went so far beyond the expectations of what a racing frameset could be that there is little to change about it for the new model year
It still has the same WorldTour properties of the frameset ridden by last year's Belkin team, and it will continue with this year's Lotto
NL-Jumbo team
Once technology catches up to it, we may see a rework of the Oltre XR
2
Until then, it remains beyond
The present generation still owes the 20% increase in rigidity over the previous model to Bianchi's Carbon NanoTube technology, an innovative, proprietary take on resin and lay-up that shames standard epoxy resin systems by adding 49% more fracture resistance
The increased strength means less of the UMS 40 and CN60 carbon fiber is needed to maintain structural integrity, which explains the 30 grams of lost weight compared to 2013's Oltre XR model
It's all laid-up with Bianchi's Wrinkleless Molding Process that compresses the carbon internally, eliminating resin deposits and imperfections for a uniform inner wall
This increases strength, reduces weight, and -- along with the thin, compliant seat stays -- makes for a smoother ride
The smoothness is surprising, considering the frame's responsiveness, which is further complemented by by Bianchi's X-Tex carbon technology
X-Tex lays the fibers up in an X-shaped grid where power input from the rider torques the frame, the head tube and bottom bracket, for even more efficient stiffness
The tapered head tube, oversized, BB386 bottom bracket, and massive chain stays add yet more stiffness to the drivetrain -- but be warned, you may notice flex in your crankset or handlebars that you were certain wasn't there before
The Oltre XR
2 also enjoys aerodynamic advantages over its predecessor, which is a required feature in an age where even the helmets are aerodynamic
The key areas for this improvement are head tube, down tube, and fork, which see Bianchi's fork wing con...
