Diamondback Century Road Bike - 2016
The 2016 Diamondback Century Disc is intended for the long distance group rider, charity rider, Gran Fondo enthusiast, or anyone who just wants a serious road bike that doesn't push your body to the limits like a full-on race bike
It packs the added bonus of being equipped with disc brakes, giving you the best stopping power available on two wheels
The Century Disc is made from Diamondback's outstanding 7005 alloy, making it stiff, lightweight, and absolutely durable
The geometry of this bike is all about efficiency and endurance, and utilizes Diamondback's proprietary Enhanced Performance Geometry
It has the same performance characteristics as their road race bikes, thanks to its stiff, lightweight construction, but with a taller headtube and more relaxed fell that's easier on the back and neck
The alloy disc fork helps lighten things up, and is super stiff to give you increased confidence to dive into turns
Component wise, the bike is spec'ed with Shimano's excellent Sora 9-speed components
You'll get crisp, accurate shifting that will deliver incredible performance for mile after mile
Paired with a compact FSA Tempo 50/34t crankset, you'll have plenty of gears to complete even the most challenging rides in good time
Stopping is handled by a pair of Tektro Mira disc brake calipers
So, what's disc all about? Traditional road bikes stop using rim brakes, which can be a little iffy in wet weather, in descents, or on gravel roads
Disc brakes use a caliper that squeezes a metal rotor attached to the hub, much like a car, to give the rider more powerful stopping performance that isn't affected by weather
The results are amazing, and are set to revolutionize road riding
Finishing off the build is a bevy of components from Diamondback, including an alloy stem, handlebar, and seatpost, and the exceptionally comfy DBR Performance road saddle
The bike rolls on Equation SE Disc road wheels, which deliver improvements in durability, stability and speed--plus an IS 6-bolt disc hub with a 160mm rotor in the front and a 140mm rotor in the back.

The Kestrel RT-1000 Ultegra flat bar road bike features a full carbon frame and fork, Shimano Ultegra 11-speed components, and Oval Concepts 527 wheels
A close cousin to the Kestrel Legend, but with more relaxed geometry, the RT-1000 boasts Kestrel's aerodynamic DNA and is, therefore, plenty fast

Ridley Fenix Sl 50 Road Bike - 2016

Ridley Fenix Sl 50 Road Bike - 2016
Ridley Fenix SL 50 Road Bike - 2016
The Ridley Fenix SL is one of the new breed of all around bikes that combine the best aspects of the many different types of specialized road bikes into one vehicle
They took the things that we all loved about the original Fenix, and incorporated changes based on feedback from pro riders, magazine reviewers, and everyday riders to make arguably one of the most versatile bikes we've ever seen
The Fenix SL is 15% lighter, 8% stiffer, and 5% more compliant than its predecessor, the Ridley Fenix Classic
The full carbon, high modulous frame has a touch of aero, with a front triangle that's been obviously influenced by the Noah SL
The shaped hour glass headtube is stiff and aerodynamic, while the fork integrates smoothly into the frame to help better channel air flow around the bike and eliminate drag
The diamond-shaped downtube is big and beefy for maximum rigidity, while maintaining the tough tube shapes the original Fenix was known for
The flat top tube starts out massive at the headtube junction, then arches and tapers to the seattube, which Ridley claims helps the frame flex just a little bit more for added compliance
Gone is the girthy 31.6mm seatpost of the old Fenix, instead replaced with a more comfortable and complaint 27.2mm model
The rear triangle looks like it's borrowed straight from the lightweight Helium SL, with pencil thin seatstays that help soak up plenty of road vibration, and chunky asymmetric chainstays for added power transfer
A BB86 bottom bracket replaces the previous PF30, giving more real estate for bigger tires without sacrificing any stiffness, while a tapered headtube and full carbon fork keep things nice and rigid in the front end
And speaking of tire clearance, the Fenix SL now officially clears a 28mm tire, but we can testify first hand that there will be room to spare
According to the Lotto guys, the bike clears a 30mm Continental tubular, and we've personally managed to fit some pretty wide tires on there--depending on the tire/rim combination used
This wider clearance, more than anything, helps give the bike a super supple, comfortable ride and vastly expands its abilities as an all-around gravel and all-road machine
While the updated frame and fork are the big story here, excellent components should never be overlooked
The Ridley Fenix SL 50 is outfitted with Shimano's ever popular 105 5800 groupset, which brings Grand Tour-winning technology to a more consumer-price point
With refined ergonomics and a completely reengineered front derailleur that makes shifting to the big ring, even under power, easy and efficient, 105 5800 represents a technological leap in mechanical shifting
Rounding things out is build kit from Ridley's house brand 4ZA components, including an alloy stem, handlebar, seatpost and saddle
4ZA RC31 wheels offer a great premium ride quality, with a semi-deep section rim for some aerodynamic gains that won't weigh you down
