Wilier GTR Team Ultegra Complete Road Bike - 2016 Black/Fluorescent Red Matte, L

Wilier GTR Team Ultegra Complete Road Bike - 2016 Black/Fluorescent Red Matte, L
Wilier's GTR Team Ultegra Complete Road Bike is an indication that the GrandTurismo philosophy underwriting the various manifestations of its GT line over the years is still getting the R&
D attention that first inspired us at the start of the industry's endurance revolution
It's got a layup that's equal parts race and recreation, a Shimano drivetrain that's almost entirely composed of the latest Ultegra kit, and one of the high-contrast, matte-finish paint schemes that are becoming as popular across the industry as the frame's all-purpose endurance geometry
Some of Wilier's frames are stiffer and lighter, but we're hard-pressed to think of one that's such a pure joy to ride in so many different situations
We're aware that there are some potential pitfalls anytime we designate a frame's geometry as endurance
It conjures images of upright, boardwalk cruising or weekend charity sportives punctuated with frequent stops for trail mix and under-ripe banana halves in volunteer-staffed rest areas
The GR Team is happy to dabble in those passive pastimes, but its take on endurance geometry actually falls between the comfort-focused machines produced by most manufacturers and the Euro-slammed race bikes populating criteriums the world over
The GTR geometry manages to feel at home in everything from circuit races to hill climbs to coffee shop loops
It may not be the capital-B Best at any one discipline, but few of the endurance frames we've ridden over the past several years do so well in so many applications
Compared to its lighter cousin, the GTR SL, the GTR Team uses a slightly lower grade of carbon, with Wilier opting for a 46 and 30t blend instead of 60/40t
That means they crafty Italians required a bit more material to hit the strength and stiffness numbers they were after, so the Team model's frame weighs a claimed 200g more than the SL's frame
Of course, the industry axiom of choosing two of weight, strength, or price holds true, and the Team is c...

FitWell Alex DeGroot 2 Road Bike Bikes & Frames Racing Bikes
FitWell Alex DeGroot 2 Road Bike
The FitWell Alex DeGroot 2 draws its inspiration from the Spring Classic road races of northern Europe
Its light weight and snappy handling is perfectly balanced by exemplary stability, comfort, plus a tailored fit
The Alex DeGroot 2's foundation is a lightweight, double-butted aluminum frame that returns all your effort in the form of KOMs and lightning-fast county line sprints on your favorite routes
The full carbon fork, with a tapered steerer tube, invites you to carve through turns with grace and speed while an aluminum wheelset and Maxxis Detonator tires keep you rolling smoothly and confidently
Its Shimano 105 10-speed componentry is an incredible workhorse of a group ensuring precision shifting, renowned durability, and reliable performance year in and year out
And while the Alex DeGroot 2 certainly inspires one to push the pace, there's an incredible amount of versatility engineered into the bike to more completely expand one's cycling horizons
The frame and fork are designed to handle tires up to 700x30 in size in case you want to put on some higher volume rubber for more comfort and/or better capacity for riding on dirt roads
There are three sets of water bottle braze-ons to keep you hydrated on the longest days in the saddle while braze-ons for fenders and racks enhance the bike's utilitarian functionality
How does one choose the perfect FitWell DeGroot? As the company's name spells out as plain as day, FitWell's mission is to ensure your bicycle is a perfect match for your physiology and riding style
FitWell's DeGroot family of bikes is available in three models - DeGroot 1, DeGroot 2, and DeGroot 3 - and each model is available in two distinct fits: Alex and Drew
The difference between DeGroot models 1-3 is simply a matter of Shimano groupset
As the number increases, so does the level of componentry
The DeGroot 1 sports a Shimano Tiagra 10-speed group, the DeGroot 2 features a Shimano 105 10-speed group, while the DeGroot 3 is spec'd with a Shimano Ultegra 11-speed group
All three models have the same double-butted aluminum frame construction and full-carbon fork
Then there's the matter of fit options achieved by a pair of different frame geometries
Alex fit frames, intended for cyclists with a long torso, have a longer and lower handlebar position in proportion to their body's shape and
The frames sport longer top tubes and shorter head tubes than Drew fit versions
Drew fit frames, intended for cyclists with longer legs, have a shorter and higher bar position in proportion with their body's shape
The frames sport shorter top tubes and taller head tubes than Alex fit versions
Bicycles of the same model number - such as Alex DeGroot 2 and Drew DeGroot 2 - are identical top-to-bottom in their builds with the only difference being their respective frame geometries
In this instance we're dealing with the Alex DeGroot 2 which denotes a double-butted aluminum frame and full carbon fork, a Shimano 105 10-speed groupset, and the Alex frame geometry
This bike features a longer top tube and shorter head tube than the identically spec'd Drew DeGroot 2 (item # FT-DD2) .

Ridley Fenix Sl 50 Road Bike - 2016

Ridley Fenix Sl 50 Road Bike - 2016
Ridley Fenix SL 50 Road Bike - 2016
The Ridley Fenix SL is one of the new breed of all around bikes that combine the best aspects of the many different types of specialized road bikes into one vehicle
They took the things that we all loved about the original Fenix, and incorporated changes based on feedback from pro riders, magazine reviewers, and everyday riders to make arguably one of the most versatile bikes we've ever seen
The Fenix SL is 15% lighter, 8% stiffer, and 5% more compliant than its predecessor, the Ridley Fenix Classic
The full carbon, high modulous frame has a touch of aero, with a front triangle that's been obviously influenced by the Noah SL
The shaped hour glass headtube is stiff and aerodynamic, while the fork integrates smoothly into the frame to help better channel air flow around the bike and eliminate drag
The diamond-shaped downtube is big and beefy for maximum rigidity, while maintaining the tough tube shapes the original Fenix was known for
The flat top tube starts out massive at the headtube junction, then arches and tapers to the seattube, which Ridley claims helps the frame flex just a little bit more for added compliance
Gone is the girthy 31.6mm seatpost of the old Fenix, instead replaced with a more comfortable and complaint 27.2mm model
The rear triangle looks like it's borrowed straight from the lightweight Helium SL, with pencil thin seatstays that help soak up plenty of road vibration, and chunky asymmetric chainstays for added power transfer
A BB86 bottom bracket replaces the previous PF30, giving more real estate for bigger tires without sacrificing any stiffness, while a tapered headtube and full carbon fork keep things nice and rigid in the front end
And speaking of tire clearance, the Fenix SL now officially clears a 28mm tire, but we can testify first hand that there will be room to spare
According to the Lotto guys, the bike clears a 30mm Continental tubular, and we've personally managed to fit some pretty wide tires on there--depending on the tire/rim combination used
This wider clearance, more than anything, helps give the bike a super supple, comfortable ride and vastly expands its abilities as an all-around gravel and all-road machine
While the updated frame and fork are the big story here, excellent components should never be overlooked
The Ridley Fenix SL 50 is outfitted with Shimano's ever popular 105 5800 groupset, which brings Grand Tour-winning technology to a more consumer-price point
With refined ergonomics and a completely reengineered front derailleur that makes shifting to the big ring, even under power, easy and efficient, 105 5800 represents a technological leap in mechanical shifting
Rounding things out is build kit from Ridley's house brand 4ZA components, including an alloy stem, handlebar, seatpost and saddle
4ZA RC31 wheels offer a great premium ride quality, with a semi-deep section rim for some aerodynamic gains that won't weigh you down
