Sram Red Etap Electronic Upgrade Road Bike Kit

Sram Red Etap Electronic Upgrade Road Bike Kit
SRAM Red eTap Electronic Upgrade Road Bike Kit
The next evolution in shifting is here
Did we say evolution? Sorry, we meant revolution
SRAM's new Red eTap is shifting like you've never seen it before
Free from wires, cables, and clutter, eTap is the bike in its most distilled, simplified form
Easy and intuitive to use, beautiful to behold, and simple to set up, SRAM have defined what a road bike can and should be
Let's start up front with the shifters
The first thing you'll notice is that there are no wires, and the only cables go to the brakes
That's because eTap shifts wirelessly, using SRAM's ultrasecure Airea wireless protocol
Airea is a 128-bit encrypted signal that was developed in conjunction with engineers, computer security experts, and even hackers
It's designed to be unbreakable, and interference-free, so you never have to worry about losing a shift to interference from other radio operated devices (like garage door openers, phones, etc...) or worry about someone hijacking your system
Since the signal moves at the speed of light, you also get ultrafast shifting with the reliability and speed you've always expected from SRAM
You'll also notice that there's only one paddle shifter on each shifter
So how does that work with electronic shifting you may ask? Simple
SRAM has reimagined how a bike shifts, drawing inspiration from F1 paddle-style shifters
To shift to a harder gear, click the right lever
To shift to an easier gear, click the left lever
To shift the front, click both levers at (about) the same time
Admittedly, it does take a few minutes to get used to...but only a few minutes
It's simple, intuitive, and easy
The lever also has a really nice, firm, tactile feedback 'click' sensation, so you'll get positive feedback that you've shifted in the heat of battle or while wearing gloves
The shifters feature full reach adjust, and run on CR2032 coin batteries with a 6-24 month life, depending on use
Looking back towards the derailleurs, things retain the shifting ability SRAM is known for
The short cage rear derailleur can accommodate up to a 28T cog, and delivers up snappy, responsive shifting across all 11-cogs
The front derailleur benefits from SRAM's already impressive YAW technology, but gets the roughly 40-60nM oomph of shifting force that only electronic can deliver
That means you can shift the front under power or at high speeds without worrying about the chain hanging up, or waiting for a deadspot in the pedal stroke
Both the front and rear derailleurs use external batteries with fully sealed, waterproof components
This stuff is pro-tested, so it's been through the worst the elements have to offer and has stood up to the ultimate tests
The batteries are also fully interchangeable, so if the rear derailleur dies on your ride, you can simply stop and switch it with the front to get more juice
Each battery is good for about 100 hours of riding, depending on use, and they charge pretty quickly

Nashbar 105 Road Bike Bikes & Frames Racing Bikes

Nashbar 105 Road Bike Bikes & Frames Racing Bikes
Nashbar 105 Road Bike
Ride it like you stole it is how the latest Nashbar 105 road bike rolls
Why? Because when you tell your friends and bike buds the price you paid for this sweet ride - replete with an awesome aluminum frame, full carbon fork, and 11-speed Shimano 105 components -- the consensus will be that the hit to your bank account was criminally low
Sure, carbon fiber may win the weight weenie wars, but a well-built aluminum frame is nearly as light, plenty stiff, built to last, and is much kinder on the wallet
The Nashbar 105 road bike sports a custom-butted aluminum frame with sculpted tubes and a tapered 1 to 1 headtube that rides and performs like your very own pocket rocket
There's a full carbon fork with the corresponding tapered steerer tube fork that inspires confidence courtesy of its rock solid and utterly predictable handling
Aesthetic-wise, too, the 105 road bike hits it out of the park as its black paint job with white accents flat out looks super-sharp
Shimano's new 105 groupset delivers a perfect 10 for value, craftsmanship, and performance as it makes the leap to 11-speed
You'll be blown away by how well this stuff works as so much functionality, precision, and reliability has trickled down from big brothers Dura-Ace and Ultegra
The shifter/brake levers, front derailleur, rear derailleur, and cassette all fly the 105 11-speed flag and if these parts were logo-free you'd be hard pressed to distinguish their performance from its much higher-priced Shimano siblings
The FSA Omega compact crankset is a perfect complement to the Nashbar 105 bike's ethos as it's where fashion meets function, combining sleek styling with robust industrial design elements in a robust, aluminum package
Shimano's engineering excellence extends into the world of wheels as well and with the jump to 11-speed they've introduced the new RS010 wheelset
Their 24mm-deep aluminum rims reduce rotating mass while at the same time maintain plenty of stiffness for sprinting and accelerations
The radially-laced 20-spoke front wheel slices through the wind while the 24-spoke, 2x rear wheel can stand up to all the watts you can generate
Strong and tough, these hoops are just perfect for being put through the paces day-in and day-out
There's no skimping regarding rubber, too, as Hutchinson Nitro 2 tires are a true all-around, all-weather performer with a durable compound and a compliant, resilient casing
So what are you waiting for? There's no time like the present to up your road riding game with the best deal around in the Nashbar 105 road bike.

De Rosa Protos Road Bike Frameset - 2016 Black Gloss, 57.1cm

De Rosa Protos Road Bike Frameset - 2016 Black Gloss, 57.1cm
Though De Rosa doesn't specify which particular frame it's using as a basepoint, it claims the Protos Road Bike Frameset's stiffness-to-weight ratio is a full 35% better than traditional competition racing bikes
We admit that we don't have the equipment or technical know-how to properly vet this claim, which is part of the reason we eschewed the technology of testing and metrics in favor of the traditional method of determining a given frameset's qualities: we rode it
As you might expect given its down tube, we believe that the Protos may be the stiffest road racing bike that we've ever rolled through our doors, first in class when it comes to power transfer efficiency
Taking a quick glance through the other bikes we carry should give the reader a sense of the enormity of that statement, which is itself almost as impressive a claim as the Protos' oversized down tube is large
Almost
That titanic down tube is most notable when a crankset is mounted (the crank arms look like tiny toys next to it) and when the pedals are mashed in anger
The Protos reacts like we've always wished the Close Door buttons on elevators would
it's responsive to the point of personal injury, jumping from the speed of noodle to full-on sprint as soon as the freehub engages
There's no hesitation or wind up -- it just goes
On long, steady climbs, the huge down tube feels like it's pulling the cranks through the pedaling dead spot for you, keeping the pressure on with what may be the least amount of watts lost to bottom bracket flex that we've ever felt
Even under riders in the 176lb/80kg range, the frame is virtually impervious to flex
That aggressive efficiency is mirrored in the Protos' geometry, which is low and predatory -- perfect for diving through corners on the inside line
The head tube alone measures between 20 and 30mm shorter than on models that we'd typically considered slammed for crits or fast circuit races, definitely bucking the current industry trend toward end...

Fuji Silhouette 1.7 Disc Women's Flat Bar Road Bike -- 2017

Fuji Silhouette 1.7 Disc Women's Flat Bar Road Bike -- 2017
Fuji Silhouette 1.7 Disc Women's Flat Bar Road Bike -- 2017
Are you ready for a relaxing weekend ride? Easily take a short jaunt to a coffee shop or bookstore with the Fuji Silhouette 1.7 Disc women's road bike
It was created to handle rides both big and small, features great styling, Fuji's proprietary lightweight aluminum frame, a Shimano 27-speed drivetrain, and a women's specific geometry
The Silhouette's top tube is compact and for very good reasons
While benefits of a compact frame are many, there are a few key bonuses, like the shorter distance to the handlebar when seated, which alleviates neck, back and wrist strain, while increasing your ability to handle the bike with confidence
The shorter seat tube means greater standover height, so when you pull up to a stop sign you can easily step off the bike with plenty of safe clearance between you and the bike
Also, a shorter top tube means you'll be riding more upright
That means you'll get a greater view of the road ahead and any objects around your bike while your ride
The frame itself is made out of lightweight aluminum and the fork is made of both carbon and aluminum, which reduces the bike's weight and helps to smooth out the vibration from the road
The Silhoutte 1.7 features easy to use components, like a set of EZ Fire shifters
Simply push or click them and the drivetrain responds instantaneously
The Tektro mechanical disc brakes engage on a set of rotors instead of the wheel rim, preserving the life of your wheels and increasing the bike's stopping power
The Silhouette is outfitted with a pair of Vera Corsa wheels and wide, comfortable tires with burly Phalanx puncture resistance
All of these features rolled up into one bike makes it easy to see why the Silhouette is so popular on weekend rides.
